PAPER COLLAGE

My collage work is tactile and closer to sculpture than painting.

I hand paint and texture the paper, creating a palette specific to each project.

LEAH’S MERMAID

Leah, an independent girl who gets about by wheelchair, is afraid of the nearby ocean until her life changing encounter with a mermaid. The story is built around the concept of perception - of unfounded fear of the unfamiliar, as well as assumptions made about those around us. Leah comes to understand that the ocean is not necessarily scary, and that the mermaid does not need rescue from it. And, most important, she, along with the reader, learn that she has abilities beyond what she realized.
