Project 9:  PUPPET CITY!

Building a puppet community to understand basic human needs, community helpers, goods and services, elections, and more! I love observing kids involved in this project! They each bec ome totally engaged in their community role, remaining totally in character in periods of free play.

I wrote this book specifically to share with educators the effective arts-integrated projects I have developed and implemented over the years in a diverse array of classrooms. I have seen the amazing potential that puppetry holds in engaging learners on so many levels across the curriculum.

Included are clear, step by step instructions for fifteen projects, with all needed activity sheets, self assessment checklists, diagrams, and materials lists. Themes include language arts, social studies, science, art, and conflict resolution, as well as introduction to puppetry. Following the projects are illustrated chapters on several traditional based puppet techniques using the most basic and recycled materials.

I have now made the book available as a handy, downloadable pdf to make it even easier to access these projects that I have no doubt will be as fun and inspirational for you as they will for your students!

True project based learning! …Really gets to the heart of everything STEAM is about!
